Girls’ Weekend in Cannon Beach, OR!
To hear about a weekend consisting of: girl time, PNW beach vibes, high-quality coffee, the best hot chocolate, mood rings, beach town shopping, and Pelican Brewing Company - keep on reading!
Lauren, Taylor and I have been friends for about 7 years. We can go months without seeing each other because of the distance between her homes or because of busy schedules, but whenever we get together - things never change! We decided to take a girls’ trip together to Cannon Beach, Oregon for a weekend of rest and relaxation. Taylor’s been visiting Cannon Beach ever since she was little, so she acted as Lauren’s and my tour guide.
The drive to Cannon Beach was about 4 hours (with a bit of traffic) on a Friday afternoon, so we fueled up with Starbucks prior to hitting the road. Once we neared Astoria, we decided to make a stop at A&W for our typical cheese curds that we tend to always crave when we’re together. It’s become an inside joke at this point… lol! We didn’t want to eat much though because we had plans to check out Pelican Brewing Company for a late dinner and some drinks once we got to the beach.
Taylor suggested that we stay at the Courtyard Hotel, which was one of the properties of Cannon Beach Hotel Lodgings. Once we checked in, we made our way on-foot to Pelican Brewing Company just a few minutes down the road. We shared a beer flight, some burgers, and many laughs as we toasted to the beginning of Girls’ Weekend!
Saturday was the only full-day that we had at Cannon Beach, so we had plenty of plans jam-packed into it. We started our morning off with coffee and hot chocolate at Morris’ Fireside Restaurant, one of Taylor’s favorite restaurants. I soaked up all the cozy morning vibes and we even got to sit right by the beautiful stone fireplace! We all enjoyed our flapjack-filled brunch until our stomachs were satisfied.
We were so full that we wanted to walk off a lot of what we ate (lol), so we did some beach town shopping. I found myself some stickers, and we all played with mood rings (we were all very “relaxed” according to them, haha). We also couldn’t resist Yuletides Christmas Shop - where we all decided to make some purchases for the upcoming holiday season. After a few hours spent shopping, we found our way to Taylor’s favorite coffee shop, Sleepy Monk Coffee Roasters. I 100% understood the hype about it because their coffee was amazing!
With coffees (for Taylor and I) and lemonade (for Lauren) in hand, we walked over to the main event of the trip - THE BEACH! We started near our hotel and journeyed over towards Haystack Rock. Our beach shenanigans involved cartwheels, handstands, heel clicks and one of us running into the ocean waves, followed by just sitting in the sand watching the waves and talking about whatever came to mind.
With the waves crashing in front of us, and the birds circling in the sky near Haystack Rock, the whole scene was pretty picturesque. PNW beaches tend to have a lot of wind, but that day wasn’t too bad, bringing in a small breeze along with some sunshine. (Taylor and Lauren actually got sunburnt through the overcast!)
After a few hours of sitting on the beach, our stomachs started asking us for some sustenance. Dinner was spent at Pizza A’Fetta, Taylor’s favorite pizza spot. This was also the restaurant that catered Taylor’s wedding two years ago, so Lauren and I were super excited to have more of their pizza!
We weren’t sure if we wanted to spend the rest of the night drinking in our hotel room or back at Pelican, so we wandered back to the hotel until we made a decision. We ended up walking to Haystack Rock since the tide was out, in order to see all the sea life that was now exposed at low-tide. It was such a cool experience!
The wind started to pick up and the sun started to set, so we made our way to Pelican Brewing Co. for the second time that weekend (lol!). Once we got a good buzz, we went back to the hotel room to conclude our evening laughing about whatever we could think of, and watching the newer live-action Aladdin movie.
The next day was much rainier than the day before. Because of the weather limiting how much we wanted to walk, we didn’t have too much planned for Sunday. However, we did want to pick up some souvenirs, candy, and Buttermilk Bars before we made the trip back home.
We started the day with brunch at Pig’N Pancake. Although I did enjoy the flapjacks at Morris’ Fireside Restaurant a bit more, I LOVED the syrup that Pig’N Pancake had. The rain was falling heavily out the window as we were eating our breakfast.
Once the rain started to lessen, we took that opportunity to run into town to grab our souvenirs. Lauren bought a bunch of nostalgic candy to take back to her family and we each picked up a Buttermilk Bar to enjoy during the drive home. We hurried back to the car before the rain started to pick up again. Our last stop - before we made our way back home - was Dutch Bros! Can’t make a trip to Oregon without it. :)
Annnd that's a wrap!
What a wholesome trip! It was so much fun being able to experience Cannon Beach with two awesome friends. Taylor did a great job touring us around and showing us all of her favorite spots that easily became some of ours. Sometimes you really need a weekend to unplug and refresh with your girls - and that weekend did just that for me! Looking forward to where we may travel to next!
Cheers to quality girl time!
